Four L ondon bus mechanics (Don, Edwin, Steve and Cyril) adapt a London bus to take them on a trip of a lifetime to St Tropez on the Riviera. The group never get to their destination as they pick up a singing trio of girls (Alma, Angie and Mimsie) who are on their way to an engagement in Athens but are in trouble because their car has broken down.
The six continue their travels in the bus, no w heading for Athens, but in Switzerland they are joined by a famous girl pop starlet, Barbara Winters who disguised as a boy, has run away from her showbiz lifestyle. Chased by her domineering mother Stella, and her agent Jerry, she hitches a ride with the unknowing gang on their double decker bus .
When she reveals her true identity, romance blossoms between her and Don. They are not the only couple falling in love, as the other kids also pair off.
In order to get the girls to their singing engagement they end up in a frantic bus ride through Switzerland, Italy and Greece and manage to get into scrapes with the Swiss Police, Italian Border Guards and a Bari customs man. Along the way they entertain the customers at a Swiss Cafe, rescue a stranded Bridal party and attend their wedding and hitch a ride on a livestock boat. Finally at their destination, all ends happily, with the lads finding success with the venture, and Stella agreeing that maybe Barbara just might find happiness in the arms of Don.
